In this lively take on the Cinderella story, Rossini’s opera combines irrepressible music, social comedy and poignant beauty.
Rossini’s Cenerentola - Angelina - gets no help from a fairy wand or glass slipper. Instead, her innate dignity and kindness prove her most powerful allies. While scheming shenanigans swirl around her, she maintains a quiet strength and belief in virtue that ultimately win the day.
Let a cast of emerging opera stars and the Hurn Court Opera orchestra take you through the masquerades, malice and buffoonery that punctuate Angelina’s change in fortune.
Orchestra conducted by Lynton Atkinson. Directed by Joy Robinson. Sung in ltalian with English surtitles.
